Making Requests Without Guilt, Conflict or Confusion

Learn to communicate your needs confidently and effectively, especially in interactions with managers or supervisors.

Description

IS THIS COURSE RELEVANT FOR YOU?

This workshop is for anyone who struggles to ask for what they need at work - whether that’s clearer communication, support from colleagues, or space to set boundaries - without causing tension or triggering defensiveness. If you’ve ever held back out of fear, overthought how to phrase things, or felt resentful after staying quiet, this is for you.

Course Language: English
Maximum Participants: 12

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE

A highly interactive session that blends theory with practice. You’ll reflect on real-life situations, explore your own communication patterns, and practise more grounded ways of speaking up. Expect journaling, small-group discussion, and paired roleplay-all designed to help you feel more clear, calm and confident.

FRAMEWORKS AND EXERCISES

• Communicate boundaries clearly: Understand the difference between a boundary and a request, and turn vague frustrations into clear, respectful asks.
• Recognize relationship dynamics: Identify unconscious roles (e.g. pleaser, avoider, fixer) and explore how shame - not disagreement - is often the root of conflict.
• Practice direct communication: Speak clearly without sounding passive-aggressive, overly emotional, or too blunt.

SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN

• Naming and expressing your needs without guilt, and making clear requests that others can actually act on
• Find the courage and clarity to 'say the hard thing': e.g. ask for a promotion, express concerns to a supervisor, or give constructive feedback.
• Understand HOW to deliver a difficult request, in a way that's likely to get a yes.
