This course is especially ideal if you have a manager or supervisor and want to communicate your needs more confidently.
Course Language: English
Maximum Participants: 16
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE
In this course, you'll start by reflecting on the typical workplace situations that might get under your skin and how you usually respond—perhaps apologetically or defensively. Next, we'll identify the specific need behind your reaction, as we often focus on what we don’t want rather than clearly defining what we do want. The emphasis will then be on communicating your request in a way that fosters gratitude and cooperation. Ultimately, the goal is for you to leave feeling more confident in expressing your needs clearly and effectively.
FRAMEWORKS AND EXERCISES
• Uncover all the conversations you're not having with your manager, colleague, friends etc.
• The Drama Triangle - what role do you take in conflict? I will also briefly go into parts work (from therapy), e.g. the controller, the bully, the martyr etc.
• Identify what the real need is behind your frustration and how to formulate a specific request (paired role-play).
SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN
• Build more awareness of your conflict patterns (e.g. avoidance, people-pleasing, complaining, defensiveness) and identifying when it takes over.
• Find the courage and clarity to 'say the hard thing': e.g. ask for a promotion, express concerns to a supervisor, or give constructive feedback.
• Understand HOW to deliver a difficult request, in a way that's likely to get a yes.
